Data Analytics
System Design
Space Analyses has designed and implemented systems to process 20.000 measurements gathered all 5 minutes over three years including the processing of the data with multidimensional data analytics, die data base to store and access the data and the generation of multi dimensional reports.
Space Analyses process in a day-to-day cycle the data from the public available orbit data from all catalogued space objects in an all-to-all conjunction analytics in an own designed system to calculate the orbital risk. Over 40 million data of orbital conjunctions are stored in our own data structure.
Space Analyses developed an unique systematic framework to design big data systems to enable multi-dimensional analysis.
Algorithm Developments
Deep system understanding creates the bases of algorithm developments within Space Analyses. The logic of the system behaviour on one side and the use case of data analytics on the other side influences the logical approaches to develop the algorithm for the applications.
The team of Space Analyses have experts in software developments, infrastructure setup and operation. We are inspired of open source frameworks and implement as much as possible in open source codes, working with Linux, Rust and Python.
Verification
Verification of big data and artificial intelligent results is a key requirement in system operation. Space Analyses combines traditional system verification methodologies with external and internal logical methods to enable reliability and trust to the results.
Space Situational Awareness
Space Situational Awareness (SSA) is traditional focused the three fields of natural objects in space (Asteroids and Comets), artificial (or human made) objects around the Earth (possibly including the Moon orbits) and the electro magnetic ‘storms’ from the Sun. In the community discourse also the radio link situation is included. Space Analyses amends to the already mentioned topics also the light pollution to complete the situational awareness in the Earth Space system
- SST – Space Surveillance and Tracking
- NEO – Near Earth Orbits
- SWE – Space Weather
- RF interference / management
- Light pollution
The holistic know-how from Space Analyses includes the points of influences from one interfering topic to other areas and builds a complete picture of the situational awareness integrated in analytics and reports.

Space Traffic Analytics

Definition of Traffic in the context of outer space activities:
Wikipedia uses the following disambiguation for traffic:
Traffic is road users including pedestrians and vehicles using the public way for purposes of travel.
In a wider context traffic can be defined as:
Dynamic object behaviour in a defined (spatial) area.
In the given context of Outer-Space, traffic is the sum (or picture) of the dynamic of the conjunctions of space objects with each other.
Space Traffic Monitoring Reports are the analytics of the conjunctions of the objects in space in different contexts (e.g. age, owner, capabilities, distance, risk etc.)
What is available today is in analogy to road traffic something like accident statistics with car registration data. This is the view of singe events and the object statistics. A total view on the traffic in space is not established in the Space Genre. What is existing and very well established is the strengthen of individual resilience (individual collision avoidance) masking the resilience of ‘Space as a System’. Individual collision avoidance manoeuvre can have a strong impact to the system resilience (ref. to a care what turns to avoid an accident without the view of others).
This results to the situation that for the moment are only very limited possibilities to come to the right concusions to manage the ‘traffic in Outer-Space’. How to apply space traffic management without monitoring the traffic. What is needed is space system analytics.
And this not only for the physical interference but in an holistic approach for all topics of the space situational awareness.
Space Analyses have the expertise to create this holistic view. The first step of the physical space traffic monitoring is available in space traffic reports.
Governance
The complex juristic and administrative was discussed and presented from Space Analyses in a very new and end-to-end proposal at the UNOOSA World Space Forum Nov 2019 with an Update for the UNOOSA COPOUS legal subcommittee scheduled for March 2020 and in the UNOOSA scientific and technical subcommittee in March 2021. A revised version was than presented in the preparatory meeting for the EU STM conference hold on 07.07.2021.
Space Analyses is an active member of IAF formulating the space traffic management (STM) rules and will present a paper on the IAASS conference in Rotterdam in October 2021
Systemic Risk Assessment

Space as territory can bee seen as environment as its own or, to go a step further, as one single system of Earth and the surrounding space environment. Risks in space (as a system) have an impact to the socio-economic environment on Earth and the way around. Systemic analytics based on data collection and their analytics helps to understand system behaviour. This is well known and established in the climate topic and is also valid for the space system.
The holistic know how from Space Analyses helps various stake holders to understand risks resulting from risk scenarios and the resulting initiated consequences with a following chain of consequences, chain of causality.
